Middle Years Programme (MYP)


The IB Middle Years Program (MYP) refers to an educational program of study specifically designed for students falling in the age range of 11 to 16. It is often considered to be crucial in bracing the students for the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).

The Organisational History of IB

The IB or the International Baccalaureate is an international foundation that got founded with the intention of taking education ahead in the year 1968. Under the IB four basic genres are included for higher studies including the IB Diploma Programme, the IB Middle Years Program, the IB Primary Years Programme and the IB Career-related Programme. It has its headquarters in Geneva and Switzerland.

The Objective of Study

The MYP curriculum is a five-year programme. The MYP curriculum refers to a partnership between schools, in several formats that are two, three or four yearlong in session. Students who pursue the MYP curriculum are ready to go through the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme (CP).

Target group

The IB Middle Years Program begins in the latter phase of KS3 and includes three five of school teaching in maintained schools in Wales and England. This corresponds to the age of the students ranging from 11 till 16.
